Understanding Bias Workshop with allplants

Problem

In recent years, pressure has been building on companies to be more inclusive and flexible about recruitment and management, which helps them foster a more diverse and successful workforce. However, it is common for many people to struggle in their professional lives after leaving university or college.

The problem is that many graduates are not aware of how they can progress in their careers without going down a traditional career path.

This leads to many people feeling lost and unsure about what they should do next or how they can find fulfillment in their jobs. This is where bespoke grownup companies come into play.

Background

The plant-based food service company All Plants are looking forward to developing the management team by exposing them to the latest trends in recruitment, team management, and company culture.

The senior management will attend these training to take what they learn back to the team at a higher level. As an experienced consultant, you know that it's essential for leaders to be on top of their game in business development strategies.

This includes learning about new ways to manage teams and keep everyone motivated through training sessions like these.

Workshop Style

The primary objective of the Understanding Bias workshop is to share the research findings from the Harvard Bias study, study statistics, and provide different ways of thinking about the subject of unconscious bias and discrimination.

This interactive event has interactive activities like the Trusted Top Ten and approaches addressing unconscious biases like maternity/paternity leave, religious holidays, and personal liking. The workshop intends to provide a safe space for attendees to confront their preferences and societal problems.

It also helps participants develop strategies for working with people who have biases that differ from theirs. By understanding our own implicit biases, we can work together towards creating more inclusive workplaces.

To understand our own implicit biases, we must first learn what they are and then become aware of them. Participants will be able to take away:

The definition of implicit bias, how it affects us personally and in society at large; why businesses need to address implicit bias, strategies on how to manage your own implicit bias, and some tips on becoming an ally in fighting against discrimination in today's society

Outcome

The group feels more prepared to make informed decisions regarding hiring and decision-making for their respective teams.

Katie McLurg, Creative Director of All Plants, says Hustle Crew helped us take our Diversity and Inclusion work into the day-to-day mindset of our leadership team. With an approachable, open host like Jaz, we've been well-positioned for conversations in the future, and it's helped us set up more shared accountability for the ongoing work in our DEI efforts across the business.
